Harper’s Island - Gasp, Sigh
I’m distraught. Mid-way through the 2 hour season finale, my heart felt like it sunk to the bottom of the sea. True to the director’s sense of twists and turns, the ending was a bumpy one.
Episode 12:
Victim 1: Danny Brooks. The college buddy. Died by being stabbed by a rod that holds paper.
Victim 2: Trish Wellington. The bride. Stabbed by her husband-to-be, Henry.
Episode 13:
Victim 1: Christopher Sullivan. The best man. Killed by being stabbed by his best friend, Henry.
Victim 2: John Wakefield. Stabbed by his son, Henry.
Victim 3: Henry Dunn. The groom. Stabbed by Abby.
Survivors:
Abby Mills, Jimmy Mance, Shea and Madison Allen.
Can we say yay?
As it turns out, Henry is Abby’s half brother. He has turned psycho. He is on a rampage to kill everyone, whom he brought to the island, on the pretext of celebrating his wedding.
I feel my stomach making a sick turn.
Henry is filled with rage that he was abandoned at birth by his real mother, Abby’s mum. Henry meets Wakefield by chance after the killings 7 years ago. A year later, Wakefield searches for Henry, and Henry acknowledges him as his father.
So here is the nice Henry who plotted the series of sick killings. He got himself a fiance (Trish), made himself a best friend (Sully) and good friends (Booth, Malcolm, and Danny) who graced his wedding as groomsmen. He conveniently held the wedding at Harper’s Island, because the love of his life (Abby) told him, when he was a kid, that she wished that the two of them could spend all summer on the island by themselves.
He designed it for that purpose.
Having despised his adoptive family for a long time, he killed his adoptive family’s only son (J.D.). He also killed his adoptive uncle, Marty.
Unfortunately the rest of Trish’s wedding list guest had to go too (Beth, Chloe, Cal, Katherine, Richard, and Lucy). We knew that Henry has always had something against Mr. Wellington, so the poor man had to go, even though he was the father of the bride.
They were all just part of the plan.
Lastly, any person who was unfortunate to have implicated themselves in this joyous occasion were axed (Shane, Maggie, Hunter, and Nikki).
Someone please cry foul play.
As luck turns out, Henry chose Abby over his father - killing his father at the end. So shout relief, at least justice was served to one deserving soul.
To make sure that the show ends with zero murderer running loose, the script writer made sure that justice was served to the last deserving person, Henry. In self-defense, Abby stabbed Henry.
After 13 episodes, I’m pretty happy that it ended. Finally. But, it cannot describe my anguish that it had to end in such a strange way.
Half-brother has a thing for his younger half-sister? He holds an unrequited love for his half-sister? Thus, plots for 5 years to get her back to the island, so that he can fulfill her dream? In the midst kill innocent people, just because they were part of the plan.
I think I’ll steal some of my niece’s bed-time fairytales to read tonight, to comfort my distorted heart.
Harper’s Island - Splash
Aaaaarrrrrghhh.. anguish. My favourite couple died on Harper’s island this week.
Episode 11:
Victim 1: Nikki Bolten. The biker chick. Died by being stabbed.
Victim 2: Shane Pierce. The townie. Died by being stabbed and hung.
Victim 3: Deputy Lillis. Slashed.
Victim 4: Cal Vendeusen. The outsider. Died by being stabbed.
Victim 5: Chloe Carter. The flirt. Committed suicide after seeing Cal died.
We have a killer, Wakefield, on the rampage. Could Jimmy be the long lost son of Wakefield? Or could this entire ordeal been orchestrated by Henry?
Alright folks, Danny and Sully has to go. Shea should go soon. As for Madison. I’m not sure if it’s right for a kid to die. Trish trish, your luck is running out.
I just wished they would have kept Cal and Chloe for an episode or two longer.
Would your fiance die for you?
Enjoy the ending song by Civil Twilight: Letters from the sky.
Harper’s Island - Gurgle, Seep, Snap.
I’m definitely way behind blogging about Harper’s Island, even though I faithfully follow it every week.
In episode 8:
Victim 1: J.D. Dunn. The black sheep. Died by being slashed by the killer.
Victim 2: Cole Herkin (A victim of the killings seven years ago). Died by being shot by arrows.
Victim 3: Deputy Garrette (A police officer on Harper’s Island). Died by being shot.
In episode 9:
Victim 1: Beth Barrington. The single girl. Died by being cut up (this was probably the most horrid. She was left in two parts with guts flowing out).
Victim 2: Katherine Wellington. The stepmother. Died by being stabbed by a sheer.
In episode 10:
Victim 1: Sheriff Charlie Mills. The sheriff. Died by being pulled from the second floor and left strangled on a noose.
Victim 2: Maggie Krell. The wedding planner. Died by being hung from a rope from the roof.
Victim 3: Officer T. Coulter. Died by being shot.
Victim 4: Officer D. Riggens. Died by being shot.
In the 10th episode, Abby meets the killer Wakefield.
Only 3 more episodes to go. 25 to start with, 13 died. Only 12 left. Who is going to go next?
I’m thinking Niki, Danny, Sully. I’m praying that they keep odd pair Chloe and Cal (I think they are just in the show for kicks). Quick someone get rid of Madison, she is spooky (though adults may cry foul if we axe an innocent child off the show - it is just not a pg thing to do).
I know that this is a little late after thought. But, 10 episodes in, I’m starting to wonder, why did I decide to watch such a bizzare tragic show?
I’m still a loyal fan though.
Harper’s Island - Thrack, Splack, Sizzle
So, one of my prediction came true. One of the boys did die - Malcolm.
Episode 7:
Victim 1: Malcolm Ross. The hustler. Died by having acid poured on him (most likely). Couldn’t really tell.
Mid-way through the show, things are just starting to get exciting. Doesn’t the groom realise that half of his buddies are gone?
So who will die next? I really am hopping that little Madison will die. Or perhaps Beth. I do suspect that Trisha’s going to go soon.
Harper’s Island - Sploosh
My prediction was right.
Episode 6:
Victim 1: Richard Allen. The brother-in-law. Died by being harpooned.
I was shocked at how quick Allen was murdered - I thought it was a gun-shot. But, you know how Harper’s Island is, they are fascinated by different killing methods.
It was interesting to see J.D. being close with a mysterious man. I suspect this man is Wakefield, or the original Wakefield. But, I can’t really be sure.
In the upcoming episode, I wish J.D. will die, but I feel that Harper’s Island will keep him around for at least another episode - unless it is a case of betrayal, and mr. mysterious decides to back-stab J.D..
My guess is that Trish’s family will not be touched, since two family members died in consecutive weeks. Any more might trigger off huge suspicion in Trish’s family and I do not think that the mass killing will begin any time soon.
So who will be next? I think it might be:
1) Shane Pierce (since he has not shown his face for two weeks and J.D. harbours some distaste towards him),
2) Beth Barrington (since some of them wanted to move out of the island, and this might be the perfect excuse to axe some extras),
3) One of boys
In the next episode, I’m predicting that at least two people will die. Heck, I think some of them might be taken simultaneously, since it is a time when people want to leave the island. Perfect excuse. We need to keep the head count in check.
Harper’s Island - Bang and Thwack

Alright, so my verdict was partially correct. The bride must be counting her lucky stars, for she almost drowned from being trapped in the swimming pool.
I was rooting for one of the groomsmen to meet his unfortunate end, in particular, I was rooting for Malcolm Ross. But, as the show turned out, in “Bang”, it was another of the groomsmen - Joel Booth, who met his unfortunate end in the least exciting manner.
In “Thwack”, poor Mr. Wellington was knifed (literally). I was starting to like him in this episode. He had a good heart-to-heart talk with Trish. It was a pity that he got a nasty boot out of the show.
Episode 4:
Victim 1: Joel Booth. The nerd. Died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.
Episode 5:
Victim 1: Thomas Wellington. The father of the bride. Died from being killed head on by a falling chandelier with a knife attached to it.
So, just like what I predicted, in the upcoming episodes, it is a massive man-hunt for the supposedly John Wakefield. And, in the midst of this manhunt, fear would be implanted in everyone’s heart. Although, I do think that there could be another Wakefield copycat on the run.
So, who would be the next likely victim? I’m rooting for Katrina Wellington, since she is getting a tad bit annoying. But, I do think it is one of those faces that we rarely see - Richard Allen or Nikki Bolten perhaps?
Harper’s Island - Death Watch
This show just gets better and better.
I knew that Hunter would die some how. I knew that he would get killed once he left the island. I just knew it!
Episode 3:
Victim 1: Hunter Jennings. The other man. Died after being shot at gunpoint in a boat.
Harper’s Island sure is directed in an absolutely good way, that you can throw all sorts of stereotypes about thriller flicks out of the window. Nothing is predictable anymore.
Nothing.
Whilst two thirds into the show, and no one had died, I was disappointed. And then, in the last five minutes of the show, Hunter heads out to sea, and “Bam”.
All you need is for the bride to be killed next week, and we can say that the show has really scored.
Harper’s Island - Crackle
Dead.
Poor Cousin Ben. He doesn’t even get a cast picture shot.
Nor does grandpa who got whipped up and got chopped.
Episode1:
Victim 1: Cousin Ben. (Died five minutes into the show)
Victim 2: Uncle Marty. (Chopped into two on a bridge)
Episode 2:
Victim 1: Reverend Faith. Death by being caught in a booby trap and having his head sickled off.
Victim 2: Kelly Seaver. The outcast who claims to see Wakefield alive. Death by hanging after she made out with her bf.
Victim 3: Lucy Daramour. The socialite who lands up in a pit hole, is set on fire and is left to die.
My, my… Things are getting hotter in here aren’t it?
Harper’s Island
It is finally here.
The mystery, the suspense.
Set on an island off Seattle, “Harper’s Island”, is like a mix of Lost and Cluedo rolled into one.
Who is the killer? Why are people getting killed? Is it a massacre? Is it for revenge? What is it for?
Episode one proves to be a bait. I am hooked.
Within the first ten minutes into the show, cousin Ben gets killed. Poor cousin Ben is tied to the ruddle and waiting for his death moments underneath the boat that is used to ferry the couple and their guests to Harper Island. He is equipped with an oxygen tank to keep him alive, till the very last moment where the ruddle is activated, and chop, he is unfortunately beheaded.
Before you can recover from shock, at the end of Episode one, the groom’s uncle gets slain. Technically, it was not really a swift kill, rather it was more of a Scream with the reaper’s knife chopping up the bottom half off. Gross? I concur.
Nobody knows who is going to get killed next.
One by one.
At the end of this limited 13-episode run, everyone is expected to die. Except the main lead, and perhaps the killer.
Wow…
I’m waiting. Who is next?
