Chanel Love Day 1
Hi folks! Hope everyone had a great start to the new year. =)
I’ve got a treat for you this week and the next. Uploads of the Chanels we (my sister and I) have at home. It is a modest collection indeed; but we love them all!
I shall upload one bag a day, to prevent over loading.
First up, this cool red arrived two days ago!
My sister’s classic flap from fall’09 in medium.
Love love love. The red has a blue tint. Most people flock to buy the chili red, but my sister bought this as she felt that it is easier to carry off and not so in-your-face.
A glimpse of the inner compartments (above) and a peak at the glossy CC lock (below).
My sister was pretty luck with this find. She secured this piece this month - which is way past Fall’09. So sometimes it does pay to just ask your friendly SA if they still have the piece; like how I had fallen in love with Le Duc earrings and they were re-produced the next year!
Anticipating my first red to be delivered soon.
Stay tune for the next Chanel bag upload!
Happy 2010!
Happy New Year!
This year is going to be such an exciting year, I can feel it in my bones.
As usual, I didn’t spend count down in public - celebrate count down in Times Square once and you can kiss all countdowns good bye - I spent it in the comfort of my home with my family.
Well, the first brilliant news of the year.
The much hyped about US$995 wallet on chains by Chanel are out! Not in the Singapore stores, but the US stores. They look delicious.
This is not the wallet on chain; but the wallet. The wallet on chain in this colour retails for US$995. It comes in black, blue and white as well.
It’s freaking Ferrari red! And, it’s only US$995. The cheapest wallet on chain from Chanel ever.
I wonder how much will it retail in Singapore?
PS: I heard that they are cutting down on their production in an attempt to remain exclusive. I foresee the Chanel prices breaking through the roof once more in time to come.
Meet Miss Vintage CC
When I go shopping, I love lugging my sister with me; whenever I am about to buy something on impulse, she will talk me out of it with her “if you don’t buy this, you can save up to buy a Chanel” - and that probably stopped me from impulsively splurging like 1,000,000 times.
Ever since I started work in Jan’09, I have invested in 2 Chanel bags. I know what you’re thinking. How on earth did I manage to buy 2 Chanel bags within a year given that I’m not a lawyer or a banker, but just an average fresh graduate.
Beats me.
But, lo-and-behold. These 2 babies have really been a great investment. I purchased my 2.55 a month before the price hike, saving me at least $500. I am also thankful that I grabbed it before the craze started. As for my East-West, it was a 2nd hand buy from my sister - she was investing in another Chanel piece and wanted to sell it to a dealer - ha! Grabbed it before that dealer had a lucky find!
And now, introducing my 3rd love. Meet my first vintage Chanel. And probably my first vintage item…
Miss quilted classic flap in bronze lambskin and gold hardware. She was produced in the 90s and must have been owned by a careful buyer, because she is in such pristine condition, she looks absolutely new!
The best Christmas present that my sister has ever bought me! Love, love, love.
What’s in the dust bag?
Mmm, CC spotted! It’s vintage. Note the CC embossed on the lock. Newer bags don’t have these anymore.
Voila. Ain’t it gorgeous? I love it. Look at the sheen. Can’t believe this baby is more than 10 years old!
Another look at this baby. I’ve never owned a lambskin before, so I’m a bit wary of how to baby it. After all, I never did baby my 2,55 or East West.
And for now, meet the current family of CC bags.
Love the dose of colour. Thanks sister! Perhaps one day I ought to take photos of my sister’s entire CC bag collection. She has more than I have.
For now, I’m crossing my fingers to add one more to the collection.
Blessed Christmas folks!
Shall upload a recipe soon!
My first Christmas present ‘09
I just received my first Christmas present this year! And what a lovely lady she is. It’s from my favourite brand, Chanel. And it’s given by my sister.
What is it? Shh…. Shall keep it under wraps for the moment till I upload the pictures.
Tsarina and Coco the movie
I found out today that this CC ring that I own is called the “Tsarina” Gold Ring from the Paris-Moscou collection, and boy do I miss it very much. One of the crystals fell out of the ring and had to be flown to Paris for repairs. How ironic, given that I have never been to Paris myself. It won’t even be back before my birthday!
Anyway, I finally watched the movie Coco Chanel and I was so disappointed. It was so draggy, I had to fast forward 60% of the show. I wished that they would have cut down the entire ranch affair to 20 minutes and focused more on the craft of her making Chanel famous. Handbags, tweet, faux pearls. Eye candy!!!! Bring us more of those stuff, after all, those who will sit down to watch that show are Chanel fanatics! How disappointed.
Chanel Cruise Collection 2010
Chanel Cruise Collection is ready in stores.
The accessories collection seems to draw its inspiration from the Byzantine times.
Unfortunately, I’m more incline to my Asian roots, so this season’s accessories collection didn’t speak as boldly to me as their Fall collection’09 where they included Jade into the accessories.
But, here are some pieces from the collection for you to oogle at.
The bangles:
The necklaces:
The earrings:
But the bags, they are screaming my name…
I like their small leather goods as well.
The copper blue is a definite hot seller.
Sony Meets 2.55
Sorry folks, haven’t been feeling really well recently.
Here I am playing around with my new found digital toy. Snapping away at my 2.55.
Alas, finally, my 2.55 gets to enjoy the glory it deserves…
A few months ago, my heart ached when I paid upfront for this little baby… But guess what?
Chanel will be increasing their prices for their classics by 10%. So expect a price jump of $100-$300 for your items. Apparently most of the flagship stalls in Europe are low on stock.
Now, I’m glad I did invest in this baby earlier.
PS: I love I love. I’m a Sony convert.
Chanel Surprises
Lo and behold. People breathe!!!
I have no idea whether to count myself lucky or what, but I actually… got it!
The jade is a little lighter than I had expected, but it’s okay because if it were any greener, it might be harder to match clothes. I have another pair of mini jades and when paired with certain clothes I look like a tai-tai when I wear them, so I need to be very careful.
Anyway… on the long story of how I clinched this beauty.
I walked into Chanel with my sister, and as a usual practice, we asked to look at the costume jewellery. So the SA took out two trays full of earrings, and as we were scanning, I IMMEDIATELY spotted this pair of earrings, grabbed it, and asked for a new pair. The SA told me that it was a new pair because they had only put it in the tray for 30 minutes. (It was so new, they hadn’t even had the time to key it into the system).
I was so excited, I asked the SA why did they have this piece once more - because another SA had told me no new shipments will come in for this pair of earrings. Apparently, this was sourced from overseas, and they just had one pair to spare.
As I was trying on the earrings, I was partially afraid that someone will come and say they want to try the earrings too. But thankfully, they were interested in the interlocking CCs only.
My sister on the other hand, was pretty happy with her purchase. I like her purchase too! I’m so lucky to have a sister who loves Chanel - wait, she was the one who exposed me to Chanel. ;P
Here’s what she got (PS: I don’t really drink, they are just presents from my friends):
CC earrings with crochet rabbit that I bought from Teddy Thotz.
It is a spring summer collection, and we have seen it sitting in the tray since the beginning of the year. Never realised that it was this pretty till now. So what we have learnt from this episode is: 1) if it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. 2) always try the accessories no matter how big they look, because they just might look fantastic on you.
Bliss…
Co Co Cocoon and Lily Allen
Lily Allen is the latest muse of Chanel. And the first Chanel collection that she is featured with is the Co Co Cocoon bag.
Soft, slouchy, quilted, and space-age looking; the Cocoon bag is a tad like the Chanel shoppers’ bag from the Cruise collection that was sold in stores early this year. I am not exactly a big fan of the shoppers’ bag, since it is a bit soft and seems too delicate for me to throw my 101 shopping things in - I rather lug my hardy Neverfull around for such occasion.
I have to admit though, the Cocoon bag is a way much better spin off - or improvement would you say - from that of its predecessors. In particular, I quite like the quilted ones. It seems appropriate for a leisure lunch out with girlfriends and comfy enough to go travel shopping with.
Nonetheless, I”m an all-time big fan of the 2.55 and the East-West bag regardless, and my loyalty stays sealed.
Chanel Earrings and Ring
I told myself I was going to stay at home to complete my work. An online search, and a phone call later, urged me on a frenzy to Singapore’s Chanel. In an hour and a half, I dash to the store, bought my items and got back home.
I have been waiting for an ENTIRE year for this little baby. I spotted it on a forum a year ago, and fell in love with it. I called boutiques everywhere, and they were all sold out. A year later, Chanel re-released them for their Autumn ‘09 collection. Since when do they do that?
I abide by the “if it was meant to be” policy, so I won’t feel upset when I can’t lay my hands on something I really like.
So a year later, “it’s meant to be!”
Bags with goodies, just waiting to be opened.
CC boxes. What is inside?
I highly suspect that these Chanel earrings just arrived, but who cares! Look at this antique looking classic beauty. It’ll sure age gracefully with me.
Ain’t they pretty?
This is it! This is the baby that I’ve been waiting for ONE year.
The pearls have swirl marks on them to replicate the natural look of a pearl. I chose a pair with the most symmetrical lines out of the few I can choose from. (PS: so if you have been looking for this pair of Chanel earrings like me, now it’s the time. Singapore outlet still carries a few pairs).
I love the antique look of the earrings. And, because of this additional crystal cap, the Chanel earrings look way much more proportional than the pearl CC with a drop of pearl.
And as I was in the store, I couldn’t help it. Blame it on my sister’s psycho-ing skills. But, I got this ring as well. It’s one of the nicest Chanel rings ever. I’ve a soft spot for anything glittery. I like bold chunky rings as well. I was really lucky as I managed to secure the last new piece.
Gold and glitter, bold yet dainty. I like!
A close up!
Meanwhile, I shall just upload a picture of my crystal CC logo earrings. Apparently, the house of Chanel has decided to discontinue this pair of earrings. I have no idea why did they do it, because a year ago when my sister bought this for me, they said it was a permanent collection. Then again, if the LV french purse wallet had a seasonal red that was in the store for like forever, and later production for it was abruptly hauled; I’m not surprise that the house of Chanel can pull the same trick as well. So if you’re looking forward to buying them. Cross your fingers. Cross them really hard.
Although, Chanel has decided to do a mini-version of this CC logo, and this version looks dainty and good for people with small lobes or like petite accessories. My sister bought one of it. (PS: There was one more left in the store). It looks equally good.
Big meets small.
My sister also purchased this pair of antique gold earrings from Chanel as well. I like! I’m so glad that my sister and I share similar taste. I’m so going to raid her accessories bin.
Nonetheless, we made it out with a couple of earrings and a ring.
We made one SA very happy.
