Funan Weng Ipoh Hor Fun

Whilst on a drive, I chanced upon the new location of Funan Weng’s stall at Maxwell Road.

I was beyond exhilaration.

The feeling is a little like meeting a long-lost friend.

I had to park somewhere and rush to savour a plate of their famed Ipoh Hor Fun.

We go waaaay back… Here goes the story.

Before Funan Weng’s current location, it was located at the Ghim Moh market - home of several hawker delights.

One fine Saturday, during my busy examination period, I asked my Dad to buy lunch for me. Knowing that I love Ipoh Hor Fun he purchased a packet of Funan Weng’s famed noodles.

I was hooked.

I’m entirely serious when I say, I ate their noodles almost every single Saturday ever since that fateful encounter. My order would always be, “Ipoh Hor Fun, extra prawns, no chili”. It got to a point when I could decipher whether the plate of Hor Fun was cooked by the man himself, his wife or his son.

Then I moved. And they moved.

So here I am, digging into the familiar sauce and smooth noodles.

Except that I couldn’t justify paying $6.20 for the original $2.50 famed Ipoh Hor Fun. So I opted for the crayfish version for *glup* $8.50 instead.

Women.

After gamely declaring to my sister that I was going to finish my bowl of noodles, I limped back to my car with a full tummy.

I’m pretty sure I was glowing.
