Day 1 in Las Vegas. The Venetian & Stratosphere.

Liberation!

If you are wondering why I have been so awfully quiet over the past few weeks, that’s because I’ve been so exhausted going for courses after courses and needed some time off to rest my body.

Took the time to sort out 2 of my external hard disks - after hard disk #1 crashed on me leaving me in pieces for a good two months. Fast forward… and I’m now a proud owner of three hard disk, and have sorted out every single folder and its content.

Hooray!

I’m overjoyed beyond description. And as promised… here are my pictures from my exchange trip to North America.

First up, let’s pull in at the glitzy city of LAS VEGAS! Show me the money… baby!

Now, I was pretty tired after having travelled 8 hours via GreyHound down from Los Angeles (I’ll blog about this another time) and definitely grumpy having left my beloved handphone in LA. But, the thought of stepping into this miraculous city in the middle of the desert perked me up.

The first stop I made was at the Venetian where I booked a ticket to watch Phantom of the Opera. I’m a broadway lover, so I just had to watch this no matter how much it costs. I think we watched an afternoon session as it was cheaper and it was the best fit into our schedule.

Here’s Kunali and I outside the Venetian. Kunali was my house mate for 4 months. She’s a party girl and I’m a homey.

lv2

Here’s the stage in the theatre. The chandelier that hangs in the middle actually moves!

lv3

At the Venetian I ate a bowl of delicious noodle soup. It cost me US$9! But totally worth it for I had not had a proper Chinese meal in one month. I was sick and tired of the roasted potatoes, pizza and cornflakes combo. No… Basmati rice does not cut it, no matter how much it cost. I want CHINESE FOOD!!!

lv4

Here I am with zero make-up, one strand of braided hair (I miss that so much!) and one big bowl of noodles. YUM!

lv5

This was how much I love the noodles. Close friends of mine know that I never finish my carbs, not so much because I’m on a supposedly-permanent diet, but because my stomach is really small.

I can even remember how the noodles tasted. Mmmm….

More photos of the Venetian…

lv8

Walkways with huge archs.

lv9

And really happy people.

lv7

Typical tourist shot. Lol!

More photos of Las Vegas…

lv1

Such a magical city… really…

lv6

There are free shows in most of the Casinos, and for Circus Circus, it was all about acrobats.

Night was a crazy affair.

Say hello to Stratosphere!

lv10

This place has the most amazing view of the strip at night. Check this blurry photo of mine. Pardon me… but, this is the best that you can get with trembling fingers. It was freezing at the top! We are in a desert after all… remember?

lv11

Steady… steady…

lv12

There! To Las Vegas and beyond!

Some days…

Some days I wake up and I feel superb, I feel like I can conquer the whole world. I feel like I can see the world in one huge stride.

Some days I wake up feeling lazy and rebellious. Like I want to do something crazy, something that I won’t do normally. Something loud perhaps.

Bluenails

I miss my blue nails and semi-dirty dark blond hair.

I’m determined to go to the hairdresser and sit down for another 4 hours to get my dark brown hair re-done. Or perhaps get a cut shorter than I normally would… Or whatever. I also need to remind myself to get a tube of Mac eyeliner.

Let’s party with whatever that’s left of this holiday.

Wearing: Topshop tank top with satin skirt (I love…) from Lemon Chiffon and rhinestone bracelet by Antoinette.

PS: I’m awfully impressed with my friend’s photo-taking skills. Zero touch-up whatsoever! Thanks Jie Min.

Laneige Perfect Renew Dual Touch Eyes Cream

I hate fine lines. It exposes my age and creases my eye make up.

I wish there was some means to BANISH them to planet Pluto.

So I’ve been on a hunt for good eye creams. For… a very long time.

One of my favourite eye cream of all time, is Laneige’s perfect renew dual touch eyes cream. What a mouth full of words.

laneigedualtoucheyes

This eye cream prides on a total 24 hour care, with 2 mini tubs of eye cream - one for the day and the other for the night. It comes with a spatula for you to scoop the cream out with ease. Its function include anti-wrinkle care and UV protection.

Day cream…

I’m not so much of a fan of the day cream as I am of the night cream. The day cream is slightly thick and requires to be ‘warmed’ up before a smooth application. Being always pressed for time, this is not something I look forward to as I need to spend a little longer for the cream to set on the lower lid before I’m able to apply my concealer.

However, I am appreciative that it has an SPF component to it, so I don’t have to slather sun screen on the eye area which might leave bumpy residue over time.

Night cream…

Alright, I’m a huge fan of this cream, as it delivers what it promises. The lower lids appear fuller and the wrinkles are not as visible as it was before. The dark circles are also lightened, and my eyes feel refreshed.

It amazes me how well it works on days where I have had only 6 hours worth of sleep. I go to sleep with reddish lower lids and wake up with refreshed lids.

Price…

The eye cream is slightly pricey (unfortunately I can’t remember how much, but I do remember going… “wow” in my head), but it’s worth the price, as it works.

Rating… 4.5 / 5

How Time Flies…

Two weeks ago I visited my primary school teachers. It was a new campus and I got pretty lost in the small compound, but I felt really excited and blessed to be back at my alma mater.

I’ll always be appreciative of these teachers who have shaped my education and helped me to become the person I am today.

kellock1

Jiang Lao Shi and Mrs Ong.

I’ll always be awfully appreciative of Jiang Lao Shi. If it weren’t for her, I would have failed my PSLE chinese. Chinese ain’t my forte, but she rigorously coached me and helped me along. I’m also appreciative of Mrs Ong who helped steer my mischievous class in the right direction, if not otherwise I think we would have done pretty badly. Haha…

kellock2a

My friend and Mrs Ong-Wong.

Mrs Ong-Wong didn’t teach me personally as our class was split into two, but from what I hear from my friends, she was one heck of a funny teacher.

kellock3

And of course all good kellockians will know the power of Miss Tock. One can never fool around her. I was fortunate to have her for my form teacher in Primary 4. She commands students’ attention, and you’ll never want to forget your home work or your music instrument for that matter (right sister?)

Wearing: Dress & belt by Bysi, bag by Morelle and Necklace from Thailand.

I heart my GFFs.

I know this bunch of GFFs for a decade and we are planning on a formal 10 year anniversary celebration this year. I’m so excited!

How much do I love these gals? Pretty much, so much so that we celebrate each others’ birthdays, and we make it a point to meet up once every three months to chill and chat - we are really busy people with very different time schedules…

The other day, we met up to celebrate Bing’s birthday.

bing11

She was very happy indeed..

bing2

Ganny and I.

bing3

I love sushi. I really do love sushi. I love my sushi raw!!!! My mouth is watering just looking at this…

bing4

Or.. scallop anyone?

bing5a

The birthday girl and I.

bing8

Ganny and Limin.

On Bing’s request, we had our supper at Max Brenner. Awesome chocolate! I would like to try their super duper chocolate shake one day.

bing7

Instead, we decided to share this delicious banana waffle with hazelnut chocolate.

bing6

And this heavenly waffle with ice-cream.

Chocolate makes my day… Mmm….

Lemon Chiffon Haul

It’s the Great Singapore Sale season once more… Day one of the GSS and I got myself a pair of heels befitting to attend my good friends’ wedding. But that’s a story for another day. Haven’t had the time to take snap shots of the pair of shoes…

For now… I’m pretty please with my new collection from Lemon Chiffon. I know, I should totally burn my plastic cards before going to that shop. Lol.

LC dress

I love this maxi dress to the core. Being petite in size, it ain’t an easy feat to find a maxi dress that fits me without having to alter it!

I pair the dress with this necklace.

Lc necklace

LC dress 2

This is a little different from my usual pretty feminine dresses (or so my friend says). You know deep down I’m a partial tom-boy and I love edgy outfits to spice up my otherwise ‘dressy’ wardrobe. I admit, I own more dresses than pants and top.

Lc dress 3

I bought a dress similar to this except that mine has white trimmings instead of black. I prefer it with white as it looks cleaner. Wore this to a friend’s wedding.

Lc dress 4

I always abide by this ‘if it can’t fit, don’t buy it’ policy. I know this dress looks pretty plain on the hanger and a little washed out in this picture. But I really couldn’t help but buy it - even though I have to shed like at least 2 more kg to fit comfortably in this piece. The pains of being curvy and not athletic thin like my niece!!!

Lc belt

I’m definitely in my belt phase. I have purchased more than 5 belts in the past 2 months… and I’ve only one waist!

However, I’m in love with these high waist belts. They fit on my waist and give my body definition. We got them in (breathe) white, navy blue, brown, and orange.

LC belt

I also succumbed to buying one of the hairband…

LC hairband

And hair tie… My hair ties break so easily!

Lc hair tie

And my sister purchased these pretty pair of earrings!

Chanel Love Day 8

The last of our Chanel totes is this Grey Reissue.

chanelgrey1

I blogged about this in a previous post but never got around to write about it.

This lady comes in matte grey, size 2.7. Being petite, I can’t carry off a black 2.7. Instead, 2.7 in grey looks more proportionate on my frame.

chanelgrey2

Love the quilt… Don’t ya?

chanelgrey3

As usual this lady bears a reissue lock. It comes in silver hardware.

chanelgrey4

It is definitely more spacious than my 2.55 in size 2.6.

Have a happy mid week! =)

Sex and the City 2

Bring on the bling, the girls and the New York spirit.

Whilst I embraced the show at the beginning and laughed at all the funny scenes in between, I couldn’t help but feel that the show could have a more intriguing plot. 1 hour into the show and I felt that the show was more of dazzle-me-colour-oh-pretty-dresses than plot-material-worthy.

Also, I felt that the show didn’t give a fair portrayal of the Middle East culture… which made me feel a little uncomfortable - the exact same feeling when I watched Kaiji.

But… thank goodness the pretty clothes saved the day.

Here are some snap shots of the outfits that I totally love. Delicious!

satc1

What’s there not to love about this outfit. Simple yet stunning. Heart the Louboutins.

satc3

An interesting take on exotic outfits to suit the Middle East’s climate.

satc4

Ah now these are outfits that I would love to wear! Love the Goddess look that Charlotte is pulling off.

You know how most ladies would obsessed with Carrie’s array of clothes and wished that they were her? I admit that her outfits are indeed tempting… But, I kinda like Samantha’s character. She’s the one in the show that makes me laugh uncontrollably because her mannerism is just so out of this world!

satc5

All the glitz. But you can’t beat having a dog as accessory. After all, Miss Hilton started the trend.

I always wondered why giangatic earrings were on sale. I can never pull them off to save my life. But she rocks it so well you wish you owed one of those.

Have a great week ladies!
