Iskandar Houses
Hello everyone! I’ve been busy making myself comfortable at work I have hardly enough time to surf the internet and blog.
It’s so amazing to be back at work and having a blast interacting with my colleagues - minus the workload. I’m also loving the fact that I get to decorate my workspace to make myself more at home and improve my productivity.
I spent sometime in Malaysia over the weekend browsing houses.
I love the decor!
Walk-in-wardrobe. I like!
But I heart this children’s room even more. Check out the hidden toilet below! (You can’t see it because I closed the doors) It’s so Narnia!
And kitchens should look clean and inspiring like this…
In between snapping photos, I was fooling around in front of this mirror.
What I wore: Silk top from Banana Republic, Zara berms, LV pochette, Tiffany beanie (my niece lovingly calls it a duck) and Gucci Sunglasses.
Dining in a setting like this is luxury. I would have loved acrylic chairs though.
I love the way this room plays with the texture of the carpet and contrasting it with the bright green.
The right furniture and furnishing can make such drastic difference to the room.
To have a swimming pool within the house. Pure pure pure luxury.
That’s all folks! That’s my sister acting half her age.
Well this trip sure gave me a lot of ideas on how I would like to doll up my room. My room is always in a state of in-the-process-of-redecoration. It guess it’s a combination of discovering what I truly love and being able to afford the goods. One thing is for certain, I’m developing a taste for furry carpets and everything acrylic with a French touch.
Chow!
In the stillness of the night.
Eight years ago, I was here. Its beauty was captured on film.
Eight years on.
The structure looks no older than when I first saw it. It has not changed with time.
But the people who where there … have.
Some paths were meant to have crossed. Once. And no more.
Life as a student.
Nostalgia.
This never ending cycle of mugging till 3am is going to be over soon.
Embrace the brand new journey ahead.
And say hello to a clean table.
The red envelope
There comes a time in life where your best friends all start getting hitched and you realise half of your friends are all engaged.
And the red envelops start piling up in your mailbox and it shocks the heck out of you.
It creeps and then boom!
Well, I’m so happy for all my friends who are getting hitched this year and the next. And am glad that they have found the one they want to be with. It’s like their faces all have this ridiculous glow you can’t slap it out of them.
Now, I wonder, how many times can a girl be a bridesmaid?
Well, happy 2010, and I bless all my friends who are getting hitched a perfect life together with their other half. =)
BS: Monsooner Me, Dear Santa.
I only can afford to indulge in a luxurious pedicure and manicure once every year before the Chinese New year. Partially because I can’t justify paying $100 to get my nails pampered more than I can justify paying a similar amount on facial. After all, I can jolly well paint the nails myself.
So with the years, my taste in nail colour has gone from subtle to outrageous.
I got my nails painted bright orange-red. All I need is blonde hair, a swimsuit and I can hit the beach.
These are currently, my favourite colours from OPI.
Girlify me.
From left: Ladies & Magenta-Me, Feelin’ Hot-Hot-Hot.
A tinge of Alice in Wonderland.
From left: Yoga-Ta Get This Blue, Absolutely Alice, Disco Ball Sparkle (only available in Japan)
Festive Chinese
From left: Dear Santa (I heart this colour so much!), The Thrill of Brazil, Monsooner or Later (The colour I have on my nails at the moment).
Happy Chinese New Year!
A love affair with the domesticated.
I’ve had this love affair with Ikea’s cow hide and sheepskin rug; and most recently, their goat skin rug.
Everytime I’m in the Ikea store I’ll spend a good twenty minutes feeling the texture of the animal rugs and pondering if I should acquire one. I would love to buy the white sheep skin rug and put it right smack in the middle of my room. And there after purchase lots of vintage frames to dramatise the effect.
But the furriness of it all gently nudge me to the other side - after all, I do sneeze when I’m in the Ikea carpet department.
There in the other corner, lies the cow hide. Subtly smooth and I just love the screaming prints. But it’s a freaking $399 and I always leave with a if-only-it-was-$100. But it’s a cow we’re talking about. And if milk costs $3 a litre, I’m pretty sure a big lady is more expensive than that.
So now, Ikea introduces miss goat skin rug. A smaller version of the cow hide and at a friendlier price of $79. I had my eyes on one of it at the Queensway shop - the spotted black prints was calling my name - and as I reach out to get it. Oh dang, the goat skin rug is softer in look than it feels. It felt like I was touching a straw brush.
So slightly dishearten I left.
I’m pretty certain the next time I step into the Ikea shop again, I’ll spend a good 20 minutes re-doing the entire thinking process all over again.
And who knows, I might really get myself that goat skin rug the next time round.
I’m way too cool.
The #1000090 reason why I’m still in adoration of my niece even if she tears my room down every day.
1 more day to Chinese New Year’s Eve!
Happy Chinese New Year everyone. =)
I Hate Valentines
Hate it or love it.
When I saw the trailer for this show, I wasn’t sold. I mean, after watching countless of chick romance flicks… why will I want to spend money watching this movie? There ain’t any mega big stars or a blockbuster plot.
But since Valentine’s is fast approaching, and having watched majority of the shows currently being screened. I bought tickets to watch this show.
Boy, it got me laughing so badly I was tearing and had a very painful tummy.
The comments made by the character was darn straight in your face, and peppered with sharp wits. Light hearted romance was all in the air. True to what some critic say, the conversations sounded more like slap-stick comedy than what we will say in real life. But, it got me laughing anyway.
My favourite part has got to be date 2 when the lead characters went to an art gallery. They made fun at artistic expression and how some people can make “oohs & ahhs” out of blank paper. I started laughing uncontrollably at the yellow dot. I think the lady sitting next to me was quite close to asking me to shut up, because I was laughing every 10 seconds of the script for the first 1 hour of the show.
A lovely romance or non-romantic show to catch.
BS: The epitome of vanity
What happens when I have a pile of work to do and have little time to take care of my skin?
I indulge.
Enough said.
Declutter that mess!
Chinese New Year is creeping close. It is tradition that we take time to declutter the mess in our house to welcome the new year.
Since the 2010, I have resolved to stay clutter free and I’m glad I did.
These are some fabulous webby to help you with clearing the mess in a meaningful way:
Books: www.secondhandbooks.com.sg - a fantastic site to swap or sell your books.
Electronics: www.ragnbone.com.sg - get cash for your electronics, even if they don’t work.
Clothes and Others: www.ebay.com.sg - one of my favourite sites to sell my clothes. But don’t everybody know about this site already?
Some tips on keeping things minimal and brighten up the living space:
1. Keep photos in its digital format. If you need to display them, choose one or two to print. Ikea has a great picture flip frame that helps display 10 pictures.
2. Place mirrors in a strategic place in the room. It helps to brighten the room by reflecting more light (from the lamp or the sun).
3. Put items in acrylic boxes or folders to keep a clean line of vision. I place all my tiny items like jewellery and keys in acrylic boxes produced by Muji.
Have fun de-cluttering!
