Chanel Cruise Collection 2010
Chanel Cruise Collection is ready in stores.
The accessories collection seems to draw its inspiration from the Byzantine times.
Unfortunately, I’m more incline to my Asian roots, so this season’s accessories collection didn’t speak as boldly to me as their Fall collection’09 where they included Jade into the accessories.
But, here are some pieces from the collection for you to oogle at.
The bangles:
The necklaces:
The earrings:
But the bags, they are screaming my name…
I like their small leather goods as well.
The copper blue is a definite hot seller.
Animal Prints
On Saturday, I squeezed in some time to browse TopShop’s new collection. I was instantly attracted to this animal printed tee. The moment I grabbed it off the shelve I was like, “Woah… What has gotten into you Val? 10 Years ago, you would have said that this reminded you of garish aunties who heart their leopard prints.”
Shucks, does that mean… I have aged? How horrifying!
A week ago, I was still dissing my sister’s strange passion for stripes and plaits. Gosh, the sailor stripes is as passe as balloon skirts. Someone please tell the fashion house to stop making pretty dresses ugly by putting elastics at the hem! It annoys me so. I have something against plaits too so I told my sister to quit wearing plaits to avoid looking 10 years older or to risk being mistaken for being a farmer.
Anyway, in less than a minute after grabbing the tee, I convinced myself that the look will be alright, as long as I matched it with skinny jeans and swing my 2.55. Just do not pair them up with clashing tights or leopard prints.
Alas, the material and the cut of the tee could not convince me to part with my money.
So it went back to the shelf. But for now…. Doesn’t the other printed tees look fabulous?
Alright, I’ll compromise… I think this Tee on the left is the winner. After the surge in interest with Coco Chanel. It seems that motifs with Paris prints is back in fashion once more.
Pair it with tights and rock it with high heel boots. Throw on studded bangles.
Now that’s a look I really like.
Life is a tidal wave.
Life is a tidal wave, it comes and it goes. Sometimes you’re taken on a high and sometimes you just hit the sack.
They always say, celebrities have it the hardest - commoners don’t know what it is like being scrutinised; and ironically, a tribe in Africa who has near to nothing - are the happiest people.
It saddens me that Daul Kim has taken her own life as an outcry of feeling lost and miserable. After all, she is one good model and has done Asia proud. I even like her artistic mini-clips.
May she now find the peace she had wanted.
But for all that remains, remember, there is hope in everything that we do. Sometimes we can’t see it, but when it’s over, it becomes clear.
Love yourself, and everything will follow.
Love yourself, and everything will be good.
Christmas Buys
Christmas is my favourite time of the year.
I’ve bought all my cards, have thought about what I’m going to give to my friends this year, and am in the process of planning parties.
Christmas is also a fantastic time for self-indulgent, as all merchants flood you with their Christmas specials.
I simply heart Shu Uemura and their Tsumori Chisato collection. Love the cute kitty.
I was also pretty tempted to stock up on some body shop gems. I have this thing about buying their hand wash. And their Christmas limited edition hand wash seems so divine. They even have it in almond!
And I really love their body butter. Although I have to say I use it quite differently from most people. I pamper my feet with them. My favourite is grape fruit.
And let’s check out one of my favourite have-it-all store, Muji…
The recycled kimono collection makes good presents for friends.
Moving along to fashion bites, Miss Self Fridge stocks up on some awesome clothes. Where fierce and girly chic mix.
But this Christmas what I really want to stock up on….
Are these…
From Nars:
Their blush in Orgasm, concealer brush, and small domed eye or eye contour brush.
On the lighter note, I was rather tickled that Nars actually came up with this gift set.
From Jill Stuart:
I hope that the perfume smells as nice as it looks. And the blusher simply oozes cuteness.
Clothes for Sale
If you’re wondering why haven’t I been so hardworking as to blog daily (unlike 2 months ago), that’s because I’ve been busy manning my little e-bay store.
My wardrobe needed a little tidying, since I’m popping out of school and heading straight back to the working world. But, I’ve been bit by the environmental conscious bug and I was inspired to sell clothes that I have outgrown, to people who will give it much love and care.
Do you know that 10 litres worth of water is used to produced one tee? How shocking.
So instead of throwing the clothes, I decided to sell them on e-bay.
So I’ve been hard at work snapping photos, taking measurements of all the clothes and communicating with buyers.
Click here to check out my little e-bay store for a sale you can’t miss. =)
Booties Unite!
One of the fashion statement that eludes me is the booties. I can’t carry off these fierce looking shoes to save my life - it makes my ankle look swollen and turns me into a buffalo.
Some shoes I reckon, are just meant to be for some and not others.
I’ll just stick by trusty dainty 4 inch stilettos and pour studs over them instead.
But in the mean time…
Booties from Neiman Marcus.
Naomi meets Safari
It’s rather unfortunate that I’ve fallen sick… Even though the doctor says that it is the seasonal flu, I’m still feeling pretty bummed.
So, in between taking medication and snoozing away, I spend some time flipping through the stack magazines on my table. And came across these awesome pictures of Naomi.
A cheetah and a croc? No wonder Naomi is one of the reigning models in the world, despite her reputation as a diva.
All pictures were taken from Bazaar Magazine Oct’09.
F-e-i-r-c-e!
Simply because, my world is full of snow.
I have an obsession with Christmas. I have a greater obsession with snow.
Give me a down jacket, a pair of boots and I won’t mind spending the afternoon digging in a pile of snow.
I won’t even mind being out enjoying the first snow fall of the year in slippers and shorts.
Well, to the public - hey this is normal.
To Singaporeans - this girl is nuts.
Because…
It doesn’t snow in Singapore - you can’t count the 2 freak incident of falling ice.
So let’s just make do with snowflake charms. Have been oogling at this charm bracelet since it caught my eyes 2 months ago…
Sigh, if only it didn’t come with the pricey tag.
It would have been the perfect Christmas + Birthday present for myself.
Christmas Traditions
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…
It’s that season of red and green once more. =) And boy, is it setting me in very good spirits indeed.
For my readers who have been following my blog, you must know that I have an insane obsession with Christmas - as to women with their love affair of Louboutins - as to men needing their soccer. I can’t emphasise it more.
Can you imagine my glee when last Friday, it down poured for 2 days straight, all the way to Saturday. Who cares if it uprooted like a gazillion trees (okay, I lied I only know that 2 trees were uprooted). I was jumping in the driver seat as I was chugging along the pretty streets of Orchard.
Ahh, rain in November marks the start of the Christmas season.
During Christmas, there are a couple of things that I have to do - it is like a person tradition.
1) I will have to drink a cup of hot chocolate on a rainy day in a absolutely cute mug (I have been using the M & Ms cup for 2 years now)
2) I will have to write lots of Christmas cards to my friends - I really am quite a card writer, apparently my friends have commented that I write them Christmas cards and not birthday cards!
3) I will eat a piece of log cake.
4) I will DEFINITELY listen to christmas music 24/7.
5) I will watch a Christmas movie. (I have promised myself to watch alvin and the chipmunks 2 - whether or not I have company)
What is yours? =)
Halloween Part 2
It was “green day” for halloween. =)
My dearest girlfriend Bing wore a green Banana Republic Tee paired with jeans. I went with the renewable energy theme - thus the windmill in my hair (I did it myself!) and the $2 daiso windwill that I’m holding.
I wore a maxi dress from Blum, Tiffany charm bracelet, On pedder crystal slippers.
I so need to give my bangs a trim.
We played Indian poker, Wii, and more card games. Sadly, I got a rash from eating some nacho chips. My palms itched for 2 days.
And now… halloween decoration dominates my estate.
This family hung their decoration 2 weeks ago…
And another family had a love affair with flies…
Others preferred spiders…
This got to be one of my favourite photo.. Shhh don’t tell the neighbour that she tried to steal a pumpkin…
But she put it back immediately, because the pumpkin was filled with water!
Haha…
