Cath Kidston Mook
Now my dears, this is one mook that you have to get. I was very impressed with the quality of the bag and the price it was tagged at.
Cath Kidston’s items are not readily available in Singapore, and to purchase them from Europe can be costly. The mook retails for $34.10, and comes with a tote bag and a pouch - that is affordable. True to Cath Kidston style, the items both bear the flower motif.
I was browsing through their catalogue, and saw these pretty looking card holders. =) I love oilcloth.
This is one bag that I will bring on a shopping date with my girlfriends, or for a simple picnic in the park.
It’s so pretty don’t you think?
Uniqlo Mooks
Hello everyone! It has been one exhausting week, and what luck I had last friday when I fell down and injure my knee. Anyways, I was so tied up with completing my assignments, I didn’t have time to sleep, let alone blog. My apologies! =)
First up, there is a big surprise coming this Friday, so check my blog this coming Friday. =) Shoppaholics be thrilled! Be very very thrilled!
Next, BIG BIG shout out… “Chanel has launched their Autumn Winter’09 Jewellery Collection!”
This collection is simply enchanting. Never before has Chanel launched jade costume jewellery, at least not before I became a fan. I literally jumped out of my seat when I saw the photos of a pair of gorgeous jade earrings online. I mean, Chanel and jade? How rare can that be? It’ll make one terrific heirloom. I waited and waited for a month, and hopped to the store once I received their mailer. Unfortunately, all of the jade earrings were snapped up.
Oh well…
For now, I’ll be contented with another great find.
Uniqlo fans listen up! The long awaited Uniqlo mook is out at Kino. The mook comes with a Uniqlo shopping bag. It looks like a paper bag, but it is actually made of durable cotton (I think).
On the side note, I was rather tickled by the street photos that they took of Uniqlo wearers. Same clothes, different layering produces different results. Come on everyone, let’s be more adventurous in our dressing!
The Time Traveller’s Wife
One of the show to catch this season. The other is Coco before Chanel for obvious reasons ;).
The Time Traveller’s Wife is a romantic story entailing a time traveller (Henry) and his wife (Clare). And it’ll surely wring the tears out of you - even out of the boys.
The story is refreshing, and is just a delight to read.
Henry travels through time and lands at unexpected places, but he is usually drawn to a place that is important to him. He is never able to control this genetic disorder of his, and he comes and goes without warning. He gets into a lot of hassle because of this reason, but he never manages to stay for long to be in trouble.
Clare is Henry’s wife. She met Henry when she was only 6. And him? In his late thirties. Since their first meeting, Clare develops feelings for Henry and only dreams of marrying him one day.
Fast forward a few years later, and many meetings in between, Clare finally meets Henry and marries him eventually. They have a child together, who shares the same genetic disorder as Henry. She is also a time traveller, but a prodigy at it because she is able to control the time, duration and the place that she wants to travel to.
The movie follows closely to the book with exception of a few scenes like Henry time travelling to see Clare when she is an 80-year-old lady. So if you have read the book, you will not be disappointed (not like in Harry Porter).
Without a doubt, this movie is now one of my all time favourite.
Jill Stuart Mook
We got lucky at Bugis Kinokuniya and laid our hands on Jill Stuart’s 5th anniversary mook. I didn’t go as ga-ga as my sister over this mook, because I really do have a lot of make-up cases at home. But nonetheless it is quite a cute addition to my collection. =)
The make-up case is really made of good quality cloth, and the design is feminine and petite. Very suitable for the kawaii babes out there. There is a mirror as well, and the make-up case can be divided into two portions.
The first batch of Mooks has been sold out at all three outlets (we were the lucky two who laid our hands on the last two Mooks at Bugis outlet), but Taka’s Kino just called us to say that they received an unexpected shipping of the Mooks today. So grab your copy!
Reebonz: Woon Hung Earrings
If you have heard, Reebonz is this much coveted website that sells branded goods for up to 70% discount.
Although this business concept is not new, this is probably one of the more successful sites in Singapore.
I have been following their crazy sales for sometime now, but I never really bought anything.
Until recently…
I saw some Woon Hung earrings being sold, and so my sister and I bought 4 pairs. We really love her earrings. Shall upload the photos of some of the past designs that we bought. Soon. But for now… Here are the earrings that we bought from Reebonz!
(Click to enlarge) None have been photoshopped, to show you how it really looks.
From what I know of Woon Hung’s accessories line, everything is done by hand. She hires ladies (who need to support their families) to help her make the accessories. Woon Hung teaches these ladies skills such as crocheting and beading, and in return, they will make the accessories according to her designs.
BS: CK blusher
After many years of hiatus, Calvin Klein cosmetics was re-released in Singapore sometime last year. Debuted at the Changi Airport transit duty free beauty bar at T2, not sure if other outlets do carry the brand ever since.
I bought CK’s blush in 101 shiver, 102 spare, and 109 fiery.
101 shiver is of a peach tone, and gives a natural glow to the face. You will need to apply more as it is a little light.
102 spare is of a pink base. Similarly, it is a little light, so you will need more blush. There is no drastic difference between 101 and 102. And I would recommend both of them as daily blusher ( for that natural glow on the face). Just add a pop of colour on the apples of the cheek - I use Nars blush in Deep Throat.
109 fiery is more intense. A little goes a long way. However, the blush tends to wear off really fast and the difference becomes apparent (unlike 101 and 102 because they are lighter), so touch ups are necessary. I would recommend using a make-up primer before applying the blush. I use Bare Escentuals make-up primer.
Also, I really like the modern packaging. It is definitely an improved design from the initial metal cases. The CK blush also comes packed with a mini brush, which is useful when you are in a rush, but does not do a good job in applying the blush evenly, so I use a travel brush instead.
CK stand up bar at Naunce-Watson at Departure / Transit Mall Central, Changi Airport Terminal 2. Telephone 6546 8254.
Feeling blue…
Feeling blue from excessive studying. The remedy? A nice hot cup of hot chocolate with powder from Tim Hortons, whilst chilling to an ancient Brazillian CD, and browsing through snowy photos. Woot!!!! Whenever I’m blue, the white flakes cheer me up somehow. (Must be the insane weather in Singapore).
I promise myself that I need to put up a new header soon. Real soon…
And I need a long long day worth of uninterrupted sleep, and another day of a spa trip.
Cheers to more hot chocolate…
