Small Space Big Style
After watching an episode of “Small Space, Big Style”, I was inspired to clean out my wardrobe + shoe rack + room. I kidd’ you not.
The joke is, I have been cleaning + packing my room since forever - blame it on a close friend who used to clean and re-organise his room weekly.
In this particular episode of SSBS, an artistic guy had minimal furnishing in his small apartment. Hang on, the correct information has to be, he has no furniture besides a bed, a wardrobe, a dining chair and a cupboard to put cutlery and china - he didn’t even have a dining table or sofa - he just had art pieces.
I was so inspired by his perspective of an artistic house, I’ve been spending a full three days chucking out junk. I have halved my jewellery collection, downsized my overflowing shoe collection, chucked out 20% of my clothes collection, and cleaned out my make-up and beauty stash. Anything that I will never use, wear, or touch again - goes to the bin, charity, or for sale.
This new outlook of mine is seeping into my bank accounts as well. Now whenever I want to buy something, I stop to ask myself, “will this clutter my room?”, “do I need it?”, “do I have something else in my room that needs to be used first before buying this?”.
I’m even contemplating on snapping photos of my belongings to add them to an inventory list. It’s pretty mortifying to realise I have so much goods - hence so little storage space. I need to de-sentimentalise all my items.
PS: I did snap photos of my shoe collection. Might upload the inventory one day.
