Finding Balance

Every now and then, I like to just sit in solitude, and reflect.

It keeps me balanced.

Morphing into young adulthood, is intriguing and fun. And yet at the same time, scary and nerve-wrecking.

Like most people, I need to remind myself to steer clear of the materialistic trap. But that is only a small problem. That is manageable and I’m no way close to needing therapy to ween off shopping.

My biggest problem though, is that so very often, I forget what a wonderful world God had created. I was tubbing and I came across songsĀ  I once loved so much (click for the song 1 and song 2). It touched my heart once again.

It re-inspired me.

Singapore is by no means a country endowed with natural beauty. We have more tarred roads than we have of gravel roads. And, most of the locals live in high-rise gated apartments.

Sometimes, I too, become lost in this isolated gated world. And it can be difficult to get out of my comfort zone. Before I can say zaapadooda, I have become one of those zombie-looking humans whom I once walked past in NUS.

Why does it take a travel or an experience outside my world to realise that I’m such a small being living in this great beautiful world? And not something that will come instantly to my mind.

We should sing praise and give thanks every single waking moment of our lives. We deserve to be happy, rather than to be grumpy about a car chugging along the expressway at 70km/h.

We need to always remind ourselves, the world is such a beautiful place to live in. And there is always something happy lurking around the corners.

“Today is a beautiful day”. That was my phone’s waking message to me 5 years ago.

Indeed, today is a beautiful day.

Every day is a beautiful day. Regardless.
