Ferragamo Hairband

Ferragamo Hairband 1Ferragamo Hairband 2I have a confession. I shall not live in denial anymore. I really am a shoppaholic.

With the launch of the Great Singapore Sales, I’m in big trouble.

Honestly, I have never really been fond of the GSS. It can get quite agoraphobic. I remembered when I returned from Canada some two years ago, I almost fainted at the sight of the throng of shoppers in raffles city. But, having been re-conditioned, I can handle the crowd.

Over the weekend, Club21 was having this massive sale at the pit. Labels such as DKNY, CK, and Armani were having up to 80% off. I was pretty tempted to buy a DKNY bag which was $100, slashed from the original $699, but the thought of having just purchased a bag from my sister (which I will blog about in time to come) made me put the DKNY bag back.

It was yet another shopping trip today. Takashimaya is having this fantastic offer - at selected merchants get additional 10% off on top of the crazy discounts, when you pay using Takashimaya card.

It was a crazy affair. There were snaking queues at Coach, Gucci, Ferragamo, and Kate Spade. All departments were full of people. Seriously, ain’t we experiencing an economic downturn?

Anyway, so much so for saving the $100 bucks yesterday, I made myself awfully happy by buying a Ferragamo hairband - classic design no less. Thanks to the extremely helpful sales assistant at Paragon, I managed to get it for 10% less, because they offered to transfer the item to the Taka outlet for me. Lots of thanks!

Summertime!

Chocolate from 2am dessert barSchool’s out, summer dresses are in.

With the June holidays just around the corner, it is high time that I put on some summer clothes, throw on some sandals, and chill out with my friends.

I’m definitely excited to pull my friends out (regardless of their busy schedules) for a nice cup of high tea and some late night shopping.

Here I am enjoying a girls’ night out with one of my best friends, Yuan Shan. We had chocolate from 2am dessert bar at holland village. It was simply divine. Chocolate is a combination of a freshly baked tart with oozing bitter-sweet chocolate, contrasted with mango sherbet for that sharp taste of sourness. Pardon for the poorly taken photograph, it was snapped using my cell.

The ambiance is so romantic! There are these cushy seats where you can snuggle with your partner, or you can choose to sit on those classy high chairs with a bunch of friends. Really awesome.

Chill at 2am: desert bar at 21a lorong liput, holland village, s(277733). Phone 62919727.

Morelle Clutch

Morelle Clutch Say hello to my very own grey clutch from Morelle.

After a month long of waiting, I finally nailed this pretty clutch (technically, I paid for it and it has yet to arrive).

It must be part of growing up, but I get awfully excited when I see leather goods these days. Ever since my $75 topshop black leather snakeprint bag, I have banished bags with the like of pvc. I even stopped thinking about buying LV’s monochrome canvas bags. I just can’t bring myself to paying so much for non-leather goods.

Morelle is created by Katie. Do check out her beautiful range of bags. Coming in an array of coloured leather, her bags are limited in production, and are skillfully designed. Also, her bags sport a classic look that can carry themselves well into the many seasons to come.

I’m going to wait diligently at the letter box daily.

PS: Her bags remind me of miu miu. Don’t you agree?

PPS: Just looking at all these creative people, I can feel the creative juice stirring within me.  I need to head back to my making-jewellery-days.

Harper’s Island - Sploosh

richard_allenMy prediction was right.

Episode 6:
Victim 1: Richard Allen. The brother-in-law. Died by being harpooned.

I was shocked at how quick Allen was murdered - I thought it was a gun-shot. But, you know how Harper’s Island is, they are fascinated by different killing methods.

It was interesting to see J.D. being close with a mysterious man. I suspect this man is Wakefield, or the original Wakefield. But, I can’t really be sure.

In the upcoming episode, I wish J.D. will die, but I feel that Harper’s Island will keep him around for at least another episode - unless it is a case of betrayal, and mr. mysterious decides to back-stab J.D..

My guess is that Trish’s family will not be touched, since two family members died in consecutive weeks. Any more might trigger off huge suspicion in Trish’s family and I do not think that the mass killing will begin any time soon.

So who will be next? I think it might be:

1) Shane Pierce (since he has not shown his face for two weeks and J.D. harbours some distaste towards him),
2) Beth Barrington (since some of them wanted to move out of the island, and this might be the perfect excuse to axe some extras),
3) One of boys

In the next episode, I’m predicting that at least two people will die. Heck, I think some of them might be taken simultaneously, since it is a time when people want to leave the island. Perfect excuse. We need to keep the head count in check.

Michelle Phan

I’m lazy when it comes to putting on makeup. I just can’t stay still for 30 minutes to paint my face. It usually takes about 10 minutes or less for me to put on a full set of makeup - concealer, foundation, eye shadow, blusher, eye-liner, mascara, lip gloss. And 10 minutes for me to remove them.  I am that lazy.

Needless to say, I’m deeply embarrassed that my make-up collection is rather basic, with only the usual light make-up and brushes; plus, my simple skills of only able to either put nude make-up for day or smokey black make-up for night. On top of which, all the make-up skills I have acquired are really self-taught.

I chanced upon videos on youtube by Michelle Phan, teaching tubbers how to put on every different type of make-up that you can think of. I’m so inspired. And I learned brand new tricks! Like how an angled eye shadow brush will save an enormous time when applying eye shadow.

The best tip though, has got to be on trimming the eyebrows. Your eyes are the window to your soul, and the eyebrows frame this window. It defines the face.

Although not all of her lessons can be applied directly to or carried off well by Asian women with hidden double eye lids or single eye lids, they can be modified accordingly.

I’m eager to try out the romantic valentine look, except that I need to convince myself that pink is okay for an eye shadow. But, I’m loving the New Years Eve party look, with all the glitter and glam. I’m definitely going to try a modified version of it the next time I hang out with my girlfriends.

Muji Acrylic Storage

Jewellery Casing

When it comes to buying storage boxes, I will always spend at least an hour in Muji scouring through their shelves to find the most suitable ones - not that there are new arrivals each time I visit. I just need to think which storage box can I add to my already extensive collection.

I really love Muji’s collection of acrylic storage boxes. It really is a clever idea, storing items in transparent boxes.  It minimises the clutter in my room, whilst maximising storage space for all my nick-knacks.

Check out my latest purchase. At SGD$26 for a 5 tier box to store all my jewellery and SGD$5.90 for the cloth inserts or SGD$4.90 for plastic partitions to create mini slots. Now my pretty accessories are all properly categorised. No more morning rush to find a piece of jewellery in a messy tin can!

The Knot

bvpythonjewelbvcaminobvcromobvintrecciatobvmulticolourbvoxidizedpeltro

There are a few classics that every refine lady should own - a diamond solitaire from Tiffany or Cartier, pearl ear studs, a little black dress, high heel shoes from Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutine in nude, red, and black (to carry off any outfit).

But, when it comes to bags, there are (in my heart) three bag items that this sophisticated lady must own - Chanel 2.55, Hermes Birkins, and the knot from Bottega Veneta.

I will blog about Chanel 2.55 in the future; Hermes is currently out of my budget;  for now, let me lust over the knot from Bottega Veneta.

The knot celebrates its 31st anniversary this year. Modern the knot clutch comes with a bold leather “knot” as the clasp. Vintage the knot clutch spots an elegant rectangular crystal clasp.

Distinguishing itself from its rivals, most of the knot comes in its signature cross-woven design, which comes in an assortment of droolworthy material - exotic leather, buttery lambskin and beautiful satin. Some of the clutches are embemblished with gem like materials, resulting in a carefully pieced together classic clutch.

With a price tag of approximately US$1000 - US$3000, the knot is a little expensive. However, it is an investment piece that will go along way, oozing sophistication even when you turn 50.

I’m currently lusting after the Oxidized Peltro that is unfortunately sold out. It is a classic the knot (made from their signature lambskin leather) with a twist. I love the versatility of the colour, which complements my skin tone. And like all its family members from the knot collection, it can match all outfits, be it rock & punk, elegant dinner wear, casual dinner affair or just a  breeze through the park.

Well, better luck next time. Watch this space, for I’m pretty sure one day I will be screaming about my purchase of my very own the knot clutch.

Swak May 09

swakmay09 swakmay091

Even though I can’t read Japanese, I’m hooked on buying Japanese magazines. Seriously.

In order to attract readers to purchase their magazine, the publishers package their already glossy and pretty magazine with kawaii (cute) gifts.

Just last month, Swak gave its readers a Jill Stuart make up pouch - small, cute, handy, travel friendly, and awfully useful.

For this month’s issue of Swak, readers would get a cute Barbie’s 50th anniversary pouch. The little blue bag is made from satin. It fits basic make up necessities, or small toiletries.

With all these cute little freebies to fill up the bag, no wonder Japanese women always have no qualms about showing off the contents of their bags.

Bright coloured shoes are in trend!

I have a soft spot for leather. I have a softer spot for snake-skin prints. I’m drooling over these outrageous heels from Aldo! The white heels will fit so well with my outfits, but it is the blue one that takes my breath away.
