Crisis ripples

An hour ago, I was sitting in the living room with my sister and limin watching the latest mandarin newscast. What a serious week or past weeks it has been.

US - Financial crisis in Wall Street. Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy. Merrill Lynch being bought by Bank of America. These are big banks. Just a flicker in stability can change the world’s economy.

Malaysia & Thailand - Political instability. Malaysian’s politics just gets more colourful with each day as the politicians try to outdo each other. Thailand is getting rowdier by the day.

China - Milk powder contamination. Harmful chemicals were found in some infant milk products as well as other diary products like ice-cream.

Let’s swim with the fish!

Headed to Underwater World today with my sister, niece and her bunch of awesome little buddies - Jayden, Lucas and Coby. What a fanfare. 4 prams, 4 parents, and 4 super excited infants.

It was a fishy affair.

The adults had the great opportunity to feed the stingray at the touch pool. Contrary to their hostile appearance, the stingray is rather gentle in nature. I placed my hand in to feed one of the hungry babies, and I could feel its blunt teeth as it gobbled up the piece of squid from my hand.

Thereafter, we took a spin around the travelator and oogled at all the fish in the huge aquarium. There were big ones, little ones, spiky ones, pretty ones.

We even caught sight of a fellow UW diver in the tank~! Such a sport he was to pause to take a quick snap with le le and I.

It was really such a fun day.

The clouds hang

Some days I wake up with a cloud above my head. Some days I wake up wishing I was just freezing my ass in some winter country. Some days I just enter a panic attack like the world is just going into a frenzy and I just want to brawl my eyes out.

But be still and know that the Lord is good and He has good plans for me, plans that are not to harm me but to bring peace and joy. Come what may, through feverish prayers the clouds will clear.

Here’s a song that is written by a primary school friend of mine. I was touched.

The beauty of faith.

Late last year, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel North America. I have been able to witness the beauty of many famous sites like Niagara Falls for example. Ever since then, for the past couple of months, I sat at home and pondered about the wonders of life.

We are really living in a beautiful world.

BS: Lancome Ellipse

I seem to have a knack for buying products that are either limited edition, hard to get or has been phased out. I’m pretty loyal when it comes to brands so I always get frustrated when I find out that the same shade is no longer available for purchase. But it means that I always have the opportunity to try on new products and fall in love with them!

About 1.5 years back, lancome launched a limited edition eye shadow called Ellipse. I bought 02 Songe Argente. The compact eyeshadow is packed into a silver metal case which retains finger print marks due to the smooth surface. Thus, it is placed into a velvet pouch.

The blue shade is rather unique. Dabble a little on and you get a shade light enough which is sufficient for a dine out with friends. But swipe a little more creates a smokey effect which is good for after night parties. Due to this unique nature of the eye shadow, even after going through oxidation, the look would only be smokey and not dull.

As the colour is rather sensitive during application, It’s best to use a brush (like eye shader) for a smooth finishing rather than using eye shadow applicator which creates uneven shading due to uneven pressure.

My new chewy toy

I love Gwyneth for various reasons.

1) For her smirk look
2) For her strange cracky laughter
3) For her competitiveness in wanting to stand even before she is able to crawl
4) For being absolutely charmy with grandmas & jie jies but does not like the other kids
5) For her loud loud huffs, sighs & irritated look
6) For her ‘mums’ & ‘ah pas’ which is just her way of saying ‘food’ not ‘mum or dad’

and…

7) For thinking that the cold bed frame makes up for a nice chew toy & licking it is like eating ice-cream

BS: Jill Stuart Eye Jelly

Yesterday I blogged about Nar’s mini palette. Today, I’m going to blog about my other eye favourite. Jill Stuart’s eye jelly. In a gist, JIll Stuart is located in NY the heart of fashion for the US. She has a range of collection for women from clothes, to bags, to shoes. But the one thing that most ladies dive for is her high end cosmetics that is exclusively available in Japan and Taiwan only. Though the last I heard is that you can get marked up ones locally.

Packed in pretty little jewel cases, the make up is good enough to look at by itself. The better part about it is that, the make up is as good as the pretty cases it comes with. For a day out with friends, all I need is to dab on a little bit of my JS eye jelly and line it with my mac linerĀ  and it’s good enough. The staying on power is really tops because the eye jelly can last for 12 hours in the tropical weather. I recommend 20 ballet flats for ladies who do not know which colour to purchase. It’s nude-pink with shimmer, versatile and can be played up or down.

BS: It’s the eyes

It is often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. And usually it is the eyes that draws people’s attention. Thus, it is not surprising that one would spend lots more time to beautify the eyes.

The first make up item that I bought for myself was actually a trio eyeshadow from Red Earth. But I have since moved on and explored other brands of make-up.

One of my favourite eye-shadow palette of all times. Is the Night Series Mini-Palette from Nars. Introduced late last year to the cosmetic line, this palette was sold out in many Sephoras or even at Nars. It took me 2 weeks through browsing the Vancouver’s, Boston’s and New York’s store to finally get my hands on 2 of them. Originally slated to be a limited edition, it is so popular that it has become a staple to Nars. And I’ll tell you why.

Top Right & Bottom Left colours are perfect for smokey eyes or as a liner. Top Left & Bottom Right colours are perfect for day use in the office. Middle 2 colours are nice for a sweet date or hanging out with girl friends.

Trust me, if you love smokey eyes and are you pondering on what eye shadow to buy. Get this. You’ll never go wrong with this.

Wall.E

Pixar is at it again! Pixar applaud themselves for doing a fine job with Wall-E. The show is terrific!

I had this odd idea that Wall-E was an old comic series like Batman or Spiderman. But I was wrong! It’s a brand new animation altogether except for perhaps the once in a while subtle appearance in prior Pixar films like Monster Inc or Cars.

So Mr. Wall-E or Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class is a robot assigned to compact waste. He falls in love with Eve. I like the first few moments of communication where Eve tries to pronounce her name in syllabetic fashion. But the funniest part of the movie was to see the humans in their tiny little automated seats. It’s like a mockery on how lazy humans have become over the years which I actually agree! But how the little babies actually are made given that humans have actually forgotten about dating and marriage and all that stuff erm is a little too complex to comprehend. Not important information anyway.

But Wall-E is a lovely watch!
